Accepting of me, you were a staple I never knew existed. Hippo, you were a safe space for the entire LGBTQ+ community. You introduced me to a whole new world of fabulous queens. You gave me a chance to know love as I have never known before; introduced me to my wife. Now when I see you, I am sad, but I become happy when I remember all that you were. Now transformed into a CVS, you were the only pharmacy in Baltimore that had my dying sister-in-law’s cancer medication. You were and are a healing sanctuary.
